Charlotte J. Gomes, 52, of Salinas lost her fight against cancer June 30, 2010 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital.
Charlotte was an associate member of the Salinas Ramblers Motorcycle club and loved camping, organizing races, and different events for the club. She loved being around her friends and always had a zest for life that touched every single person she came in contact with.
Charlotte was very honored to be asked to be the torch-bearer at this years Relay for Life, but was unable to attend due to being in the hospital battling the very disease that was being honored that day. Her family carried it for her in her honor.
Charlotte will be missed by many and is survived by her husband of 34 years, Joe Gomes of Salinas, her daughter Melissa (Pat) Ballew of Salinas and her beloved Granddaughter Audrey Ballew, also of Salinas, with whom she got to share 11 glorious months of her life with.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her father, Donald E. Green and her mother Mary L. Green.
Memorial services will be held July 8, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Salinas Valley Community Church, 368 San Juan Grade, Salinas, CA 93906. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Monterey County Sherriff's Posse Grounds, 398 Old Natividad Road, Salinas, CA.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Melissa D. Ballew/Charlotte Gomes Memorial Fund at First National Bank.
