James E. Laporte, 69 of Salinas, California, passed away at home on Monday, September 26, 2005 after a short battle with lung cancer.
Jim was born January 8, 1936 in Salinas, California. He was a graduate of Salinas High School class of 1953 and received his Bachelor�s degree in Business Administration from the University of Nevada Reno in 1958.
Jim was co-owner of Struve and Laporte Funeral Home, joining the family business after graduating from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science in 1960. Jim, along with his father, E.O. �Bill� Laporte and Jim�s son, William Laporte have been serving the Salinas Valley at their time of need for 77 years.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. He formerly coached little league baseball; Jim was a great �sports dad�. Jim was a devoted husband and father who enjoyed every minute with his family.
MEMBERSHIPS: Salinas Elks Lodge #614, Salinas Golf and Country Club, the Knights of Columbus, Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, former Boy Scouts Leader, Salinas Jaycees.
